1.  A major initiative of our new fire protection engineer is to
f i n d J a p a n e s e equipment and materials-that will meet our fire
c o d e s .  This information should save you and your A & E's from
d o i n g the search yourselves and will let you know upfront what
p r o d u c t s a r e a n d a r e no t ac c e p t a b l e .
2.  Please feel free to discuss with Hr. Dinesh K. Pate1 any
proposed local product, n o t included in reference (a) or in
e n c l o s u r e ( 1 ) , t h a t you feel is an acceptable substitute for a U.
S . item.
I would suggest that it's more cost effective to hold
t h a t discussion before designs start than during reviews.
