Design Submission Requirements
(NOTE:  SEE THE CHAPTERS TITLED "PREPARATION OF DRAWINGS",
PREPARATION OF SPECIFICATIONS" AND "PREPARATION OF DESIGN ANALYSIS"
FOR GENERAL CONTENT REQUIREMENTS REGARDING PREPARATION OF THE
DOCUMENTS LISTED BELOW)
18.4.1
Schematic Submission
18.4.1.1
Submit the following Basis of Design:
A discussion in report form of how the A/E's concept satisfies the
user requirements, meets criteria and is cost effective.  Include the
following:
a)  A summary of the criteria upon which the structural design
will be based.
b)  General description of the proposed foundation and
structural system including their advantages and suitability for the
proposed project.  Avoid using:
1)
Cold formed steel members for primary structural steel
framing.
2)  Metal stud backup for masonry veneered walls unless
stud backup is properly sized to limit deflection in the veneer.
Design stud backup veneered walls as two component systems, applying
a portion of the load to each component consistent with its relative
stiffness.
3)
Pre-engineered frames with non-standard framing
schemes.
c)  Logical alternative foundation and structural systems
considered, listing the advantages and disadvantages of each, and
reasons for selection of the proposed design.  Include preliminary
computations and cost comparisons (initial and life cycle) of various
structural framing systems, including alternate framing schemes for
"typical bays" and horizontal force resisting systems, as well as
consideration of unusual geometry and heavy equipment loads.  Include
consideration of elements listed under the paragraph titled
"Selection of Structural Systems".
18.4.2
Design Development Submission
18.4.2.1  Drawings:  Submit the following drawings developed to
approximately 80% completion:
NOTE:  On small or uncomplicated projects, one or more plans may be
combined onto the same sheet, but never so that the plans will be
crowded or information unintelligible.
a)
Foundation Plan(s):
