ELECTRICAL
DD.
Interior Electric:
Install empty conduit in some situations to handle future requirements; e.g.,
at major distribution panelboards, electrical switchgear, and motor control
centers.
Consider the likelihood that building areas will be upgraded and provide
sufficient electrical requirements initially.  Provide for load growth at
source equipment.
In changing situations, use rack, tray, or channel construction for wire
supports.
Ensure electrical outlets are adequate in number and spacing.
In restrooms, provide outlets for everything from electric shaving to powered
cleaning equipment.  Outlets shall be of ground fault interrupter type.
Avoid canopy switches and pull-chain operators.
Do not overlook facilities for battery charging for various types of
equipment.
Eliminate floor-mounted receptacles whenever possible.
Use movable posts for
receptacles in open office areas.
Do not permit running water and drain lines to pass through electrical
equipment areas.
Provide a framed one-line diagram at electrical rooms for complex facilities
and at electrical generators.
Be sure that electric vaults are accessible from building exteriors.
Use identification systems for electric wiring and equipment.  Mark
panelboard circuits with equipment loads.  Wires shall be terminated on
marked terminals in control panels, including motor control centers.
Receptacles shall be at reasonable intervals in maintenance areas for
temporary work lights and portable tools.
For facilities housing noise sensitive equipment, consider use of isolated
ground receptacles per NEC ART 250-74, Exception No. 4.
EE.
Exterior Electric:
Prefer fully enclosed pad-mounted transformers in lieu of pole-mounted.
Ensure sufficient clearance for access to drain plugs.
