for alarm assessment and that PTZ controls add additional burden to the
operator, which may be detrimental in times of stress such as multiple alarm
situations.  If more than four alarm zones can alarm simultaneously, VTR
should be used for later assessment.  It is also accepted practice for DoD
application that monitors for alarm assessment shall be blank until an alarm
occurs or, if being used for operator surveillance of an area, that the
alarmed zone scene automatically replace what is on the monitor.  Care in
monitor size selection and careful alarm monitor station integration must be
the prime considerations of the security system designer so that the CCTV
monitors do not overburden the operator's senses with the amount of the
other data also being presented.
