Biological Information and Remarks
Soil-applied preemergence treatment in woody plants
and turf for control of certain annual grasses and
2- tert -butyl-4-(2,4-
broadleaf weeds. Do not use on bentgrass, red
phenyl)- ∆ - 1,3,4-oxa =
fescue, centipedigrass, and zoysiagrass turf, or on
dichondria. It is strongly adsorbed by soil colloids
and organic matter, and leaches little in the soil.
Selective preemergence herbicide for soybeans and
peanuts; preemergence for rice, deciduous fruit trees,
Rohm and Haas
citrus, nuts, grapes and horticultural crops. Controls
many broadleaf and grass weeds. Use goggles or face
mask in handling. It is strongly adsorbed on soil and
leaches little. Half-life in soil is 30 to 40 days.
A RESTRICTED HERBICIDE. It is a foliage-
applied contact herbicide that kills all plant tops
treated. Used noncropland, preplanting, and directed
spray in orchard and ornamental woody plants. It is
used as a crop desiccant and defoliant. Killing action
is very rapid. Should be used with X-77 surfactant
or equivalent. It is tightly bound to soil, and thus is
inactive in soil.
