SECTION 1. ALARM AND DETECTION SYSTEMS
1.1
WAREHOUSE FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS:  In warehouses requiring
sprinkler protection, fire alarm evacuation systems and manual pull
s t a t i o n s are required.  Warehouses 5,000 square feet and less do not
require evacuation systems.  The sprinkler system's pressure/flew
w i t c h shall be connected to the base fire alarm reporting system.

HANDICAPPED FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS: Fire alarm systems in
any structure accessible to handicapped persons (such as business,
a s s e m b l y , health care, or mercantile type structures) shall be

n o t i f i c a t i o n devices for deaf persons, manual pull stations at a
suitable height for persons confined to wheelchairs (4-foot maximum
height),

PIGGYBACKING: Avoid piggybacking fire alarm systems.

1.4.1
Design/Contract Drawings:  All design drawings which
s h o w fire detectors shall include the following note:
"Devices are shown in suggested locations. Final quantity and
l a y o u t shall be in accordance with all applicable codes.
manufacturer's  recommendations, s p e c i f i c a t i o n s e c t i o n ( s )
and
e q u i p m e n t listings; Coordinate locations with lighting and air
handling systems.  Smoke detectors shall be located no closer than
3 feet from all supply air diffusers."
1 . 4 . 2  Detector Spacing:  Spacing shall not
exceed 25 feet.

Concealed Detectors:  All concealed detectors.

shall either be remotely annunciated in an occupied location or toned
separately on the FACP.
1.4.5
Heat Detectors:  All heat detectors shall be rate
compensated type.  Da not use or specify fixed temperature or rate of
r i s e -type heat detectors.  (See item 1.4.6.3).
Smoke Detectors:  All smoke detector circuits shall be 4
