SAMPLE BASIS OF ESTIMATE
Cost estimate shows detailed direct job costs which includes direct prices of
materials, labor, equipment and sub-contractor's cost. Labor includes fringe
benefits, social security, unemployment liability and compensation insurance.
All labor figures were taken from the State of Hawaii wage rate schedule.
Labor man-hour estimates were derived from the various R.S. Means Cost Data
Books, Richardson's General Construction Estimating Standards, the PACDIV Cost
Data Book, and from past experience and knowledge of contractor's productivity
rates in the State of Hawaii. Material pricing was developed from quotes of
local vendors and suppliers as listed below, the PACDIV Hawaii Cost Data Book,
the various R.S. Means Cost Data Book, various industry catalog services such
as the National Price Service/Trade for electrical materials and Modern for
mechanical materials. Escalation rates were computed from the NAVFAC
Construction Cost Index dated April 1992. The escalation rate was applied to
each system in the estimate and is indicated as a separate line item at the
end of each system.
Discounts:
Prices include discount for lighting and plumbing fixtures because
of the large quantities required.
