c.  Lighting Alternatives.  The energy consumption of lighting systems
frequently represents a large portion of total building energy consumption.
Alternative lighting systems which supply adequate light should be evaluated
to reduce total lighting system wattage.  Lighting systems which use the heat
from lights for space heating or for other useful purposes should be compared
in a computer energy analysis with a task lighting system with no such heat
recovery to determine the most effective and energy conserving system.
(1) High pressure sodium lighting for high bays (where color
condition is not a factor) and for exterior applications
(2) Photocells to control exterior lighting
(3) LED exit signs
